Constant Vaginal Discharge




Constant vaginal discharge is not normal and a pap smear may be helpful in a diagnosis, however it may be a vulvar infection. The pH balance of the vagina fluctuates during the menstrual cycle that results in changes of the secretion. Emotional stress, nutrition, pregnancy, use of oral contraceptives and antibiotics, sexual arousal influence its amount. If the color and quality of the secretion changes much, it may be a sign of an infection. Constant vaginal discharge is not normal and a pap smear may be helpful in a diagnosis, however it may be a vulvar infection.

It is normal for all women to have some secretion from the vagina. In normal condition it is clear, cloudy white or yellowish. It may contain white flecks and may be thin and stringy. Many factors influence the amount and color of this secretion. Constant vaginal discharge is not normal and a pap smear may be helpful in a diagnosis, however it may be a vulvar infection.
