Vaginitis Atrofica
Vaginitis atrofica is not diagnosed with a pap smear as the HPV virus is.
Changes in the skin on the vagina and vulva (and sometimes urethra and bladder) produce such symptoms as burning, itching, urge to urinate often, pain on intercourse, and spotting. Estrogen-based treatment is prescribed. A diet based on phytoestrogens is also recommended.

This is skin irritation resulting from a low level of hormone estrogen in the body. Though women of all age develop this disease, it is more common in postmenopausal and breast feeding women, and those with ovary problems. Vaginitis atrofica is not diagnosed with a pap smear as the HPV virus is.
